Marleen Moors (1979) is an existential philosopher, counselor and clinical ethicist. She studied philosophy and religious studies at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and at Radboud University Nijmegen (MPhil Philosophy). She specializes in existentialism, existential phenomenology, metaphysics and philosophical ethics. Marleen works as a spiritual counselor at VieCuri Medical Center in Venlo, specializing in oncology and palliative care. She also works in hospice care. She previously worked as a philosophical counselor in Amsterdam, as a lecturer in philosophy and ethics at Fontys University of Applied Sciences, as a junior researcher at UMC Utrecht in the medical ethics department, and as a lecturer at the Institute for Philosophy in Amsterdam. She also served on the board of the Dutch Association for Philosophy and Medicine and co-edited the "Philosophical Practices" section of the Dutch-Flemish journal Filosofie. She currently focuses on patient care, writing, and teaching.
Academic interests: the history of metaphysics, existential phenomenology, philosophy of religion, philosophy of medicine, medical ethics and existential thought and therapeutic practice. Marleen is currently working on a study of the contemporary understanding of the numinous in relation to the philosophical concept of Eros. She is also engaged in case studies on palliative care, examining how they deepen our understanding of finitude.
Additional interests: design and implementation of ethics support within (healthcare) organizations, ethical issues surrounding end-of-life care, in particular MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying).
